WELCOME TO FEBRUARY!
It’s the shortest month of the year and for many of our members in the North it can’t be short enough. We ordinarily don’t have much snow and very little salt here in Georgia so our winter car damage comes from driving on black ice. But as I write we are just digging out of a 7-12" surprise snowfall, so I better watch what I say. Be careful out there!
Last month I announced our G&D editorial transition from Kate Sullivan to Jim Donnelly, but shortly thereafter Jim had to step back due to personal issues. We all thank Lucy Blakey, our “can-do” G&D Art Director, for jumping in and putting together our January issue. We Love Lucy!
Lucy and her husband Steve are assisting our new Interim Editor, Vince Taliano. Vince is known by some of our members for his enviable writing, editing and hands-on skills for the Cadillac & LaSalle Club. We look forward to working together and I hope you are as impressed as I am with this, his first issue. He is anxious to receive stories and photos from you; please send them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Many of us enjoyed working with our former Web and Chat Master, Bill Barker. Bill built our sites almost single handedly, and worked tirelessly improving, upgrading and policing them for your use. Bill retired last year and both of his roles have been assumed by Peter Gariepy. Bill is recovering nicely from a head injury that occurred in his shop, and remains active in our club. He personifies Chevrolet Super Service for the VCCA. Thanks for being such a good friend and willing contributor of your time and talents, Bill!

As I have participated in Concours Meets and other events in 2017, I continue to be surprised to find many Chevy & GMC owners are not aware of all the benefits the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America has to offer. Please keep spreading the word.
Thanks to those members helping staff our VCCA booth at the Atlantic City, NJ Auction at the Convention Center February 9, 10, 11. It’s a fun indoor winter activity. If you read this in time, feel free to join us there.
You can see we are practicing what we preach; get involved; help promote the VCCA in non- traditional venues; get more Regions started and participate in tours and shows.
To make it even easier to join the VCCA, we have responded to requests from our members to extend our electronic membership option. It has been available to international members for years, but now it is an option for all members. Some members are more comfortable with a digital G&D rather than a printed one, and enjoy their time on computers, tablets and phones. The dues and other details for eMembership are highlighted on page 9 of this issue. We believe this new membership option is needed to fit today’s lifestyles.
I plan to add the VCCA 36th All Cal Meet (Oroville, California May 3-5) to my schedule along with the Middle West Meet this year and would like to attend other VCCA activities. Your suggestions are welcome! My Area 9 in the Southeast is holding our 16th annual meet in Statesville, NC April 26-28, including 3 tours and a nationally judged show. We would love to have you join us! For those with 1955 and newer Chevrolets or GMCs, the Tenth Anniversary VCCA ‘Happy Days’ tour starts nearby in Mt. Airy, NC immediately following on April 29-May 3. Details for both are in the calendar section of this G&D.
The Vintage Chevrolet Heritage Foundation (VCHF) continues to receive generous financial contributions to preserve and digitalize manuals, sales training materials and catalogs. THANK YOU! The VCHF is how we save our Chevrolet and GMC history for future generations while providing access to rare information now, to aid us in our restoration and preservation activities.
The VCHF is a charitable 501(c)(3) organization to which donations can be tax deductible. For more information on how you too can donate to help “save the past for the future” please contact VCHF Treasurer Jim Amos at email@example.com. We appreciate your support of the VCHF!
Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s a great time to take your sweetheart out to dinner in your Chevy or GMC!
