SEPTEMBER ALREADY? CAN’T BE! Where did summer go?

I’ve been a busy VCCA roadie—first as a Head Judge at the August Eastern Meet at the Classic Car Mall in Morgantown, PA, (an indoor shopping mall converted to a car museum & showroom) and then judging at the Area 11 Northeast Meet, sponsored by the Long Island Region celebrating their 40th anniversary in Old Bethpage, NY. Look for upcoming articles on these meets.

The Middle West Meet in Minnesota during June was special for me. It featured a tour to Marv Spomer’s collection of over 2,500 neon signs. He helped with neon for my showroom. Area Director Roger & Mary James have come to Area 9 Meets here in the Southeast for so many years. It was past time for me to judge in their Area.

There were a number of 4-cylinder Chevys. It’s great to see them among 6-cylinder and V8 era Chevys and GMCs; a history lesson on the show field. We practice what we preach: get involved, help promote VCCA in non-traditional venues, start new Regions and participate in more tours and shows. Longtime VCCA members, seeking the fun of a Region, just started the new Kentucky Commonwealth Region—we congratulate them!

Please take advantage of our relationship with Mecum Auctions. Check their upcoming schedule in the ad in this issue. If you have never been, get involved with a complimentary pass and have some fun!

Please contact Event Marketing Chair Jim Matus (nosparts4u@hotmail.com or 916-635- 8790 Pacific Time) to help work our VCCA booths at Mecum Auctions or other events.

Please keep your email address updated with a note to memberservices@vcca.org.

The Vintage Chevrolet Heritage Foundation (VCHF) appreciates your generous financial contributions to preserve and digitize manuals, sales training materials and catalogs. THANK YOU!

To see donations in action please go to the VCHF website www.vintagechevyheritage.org. The ‘Slideshows’ page has newly posted videos…we have hundreds to digitize for your enjoyment and information as funds permit. The VCHF is a charitable 501(c)(3) organization. Donations can be tax deductible. You too can help “save the past for the future;” please go to www.vintagechevyheritage.org or contact Treasurer Jim Amos (jamestamos1@ comcast.net).

Enjoy your Labor Day vacation!

Temperatures will cool, convertibles will be comfortable to ride in again and Fall car shows will abound. Remember every activity is an opportunity for friendship and membership! VCCA will be at the famous Hershey, PA Meet; for information on our booth and picnic (pre-registration required by Oct. 1), see the events calendar listing page 11 or at vcca.org. Drive safely and SEE the USA! I hope to see you on my travels this Fall!

Yours through Chevrolet (and GMC),
